Mount Kaya 可也山

Mount Kaya 可也山 (Altitude ~365m), situated at Itoshima region in Kyushu, Japan.

Went for a short solo day hike at Mount Kaya in Dec 2018 with a temperature of less than 10 degree.

Getting to the trailhead:
Took a train to Chikuzen-Maebaru station, then took a bus to the start of the trailhead (可也山登山口). Be sure to check the bus timing as the timing is hourly.

Part of the trail feels like walking in between the roots of trees. 😅

Follow the main trail and walk towards the observation deck.

Supposedly an easy and short hike, one should be able to ascend and descend in less than 3 hours time, I made a wrong turn towards a steep path that was closed off. Had to make a retrace my path and received directions from a fellow hiker who pointed me to the right direction towards the shrine which will eventually lead to the observation area and the peak of Mount Kaya.

You have to take this path instead of the concrete path.

Finally, I reached the top of Mount Kaya! Such a relief after being lost for an hour.

Found a little clover that looks like a four-leaf clover! 😂

If you have more time, you could visit one of the oyster hut at Itoshima coastline areas for fresh oyster! However, there are no public transport nearby.
